Tips and Tricks: Unusual research tools
28 March 2007

Whilst performing due diligence KYC research on prospective customers, try a couple of these offbeat yet effective websites to locate potential family members or close associates of PEPs.

Try these tricks; you may even end up with an image or two to verify the face on the passport photo:

  • Society pages on newspaper websites. Go to the newspaper archives at the client's city of residence.
  • Google Images and any other image pages on your favourite search engines.
  • Regional or national listserves* in the client's occupation or profession, in his or her geographical area.
  • The client's company's websites; they generally have photos of company social events.

Remember, the use of offbeat websites usually turns up some PEP associates and/or his family members.

* A Listserve is an internet electronic bulletin board (EBBS) where members post entries of topical interest.
