US designates 14 Burmese PEPs as SDNs

OFAC has now listed fourteen of the Myanmar (Burma) government's ranking generals and governmental leaders as Specially Designated Nationals. Inasmuch as a number of European companies are presently involved in international trade with Burma, MLROs and compliance officers at these banks may find it prudent to enquire as to whether these PEPs hold accounts with your institution.

The individuals listed as SDN:

  • Maung Aye, Vice Senior General; Commander-in-Chief, Myanmar Army.
  • Maung Bo, Lieutenant-General; Chief of Special Operations Group 4.
  • Shwe Mann, Member, StatePeace & Development Council.
  • Ye Myint, Lieutenant-General; Chief, Special operations Group 1.
  • Maung Oo, Major General; Minister of Home Affairs.
  • Tin Aung Oo; Lieutenant-General; Minister of Military Affairs.
  • Thien Sein, Adjutant General.
  • Than Shwe, Senior General; Minister of Defence.
  • Lun Thi, Brigadier, Minister of Energy.
  • Kyaw Win, Lieutenant-Genera; Chief of Special Operations Group 2.
  • Nyan |Win, Major General; Minister of Foreign Affairs.
  • Soe Win, Lieutenant-General; Prime Minister.
  • Aung Htwe, Lieutenant-General; Chief, Armed Forces Training.
  • Myint Swe, Lieutenant-general; Chief of Military Affairs Security.
