US supplements Syrian security leader's aliases
11 January 2008

A high-ranking Syrian national security officer who has previously been named a Specially Designated National, or SDN, by OFAC, Major General Muhammad Nasif Khayrbik [UID 74376], the Syrian Deputy Vice President for Security Affairs, and whose Arabic name has multiple transliterations into English, had all those spellings listed yesterday, 10 January. He was first profiled on World-Check on 22 July, 2002. He has been closely linked to the designated Lebanese terrorist organisation, Hizballah, and was originally designated back in November as one of the individuals interfering with democracy in Lebanon.

Has this individual now been especially targeted by the United States? We cannot say for sure, but any Lebanese  compliance officer observing evidence that his bank is assisting MG Khayrbik with moving funds into Lebanon for Hizballah might want to consider a job change forthwith.
