Viktor Bout charged in New York Federal Court

The "Merchant of Death," international weapons trafficker Viktor Bout, who was arrested in Thailand, and awaits extradition to the United States, has been indicted upon multiple weapons charges. Bout made the mistake of attempting to sell weapons to the FARC to be used to kill US military forces in Colombia, and was dealing with three 'Confidential Informants' working for American law enforcement.

Viktor Anatoliyevich Bout, [World-Check UID 9398, first profiled on 23 December 2000] has been charged with:

Conspiracy to Kill US nationals.

Conspiracy to kill officers and employees of the United States.

Conspiracy to acquire and use anti-aircraft missiles.

Providing material support to a designated terrorist organisation (harbouring and concealing terrorists).

Bout promised to deliver 700-800 SAMs, 5,000 AK-47, millions of rounds of ammunition, armour-piercing rocket launchers, spare parts for the rifles, anti-personerl mines, C-4 plastic explosive, nightvision goggles, ultralight aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles, all to be sued by the FARC against US and Colombian military forces.

If convicted, Bout could receive a life sentence.
