Russian Judge in BoNY case refuses to delay trial
14 May 2008

The presiding judge in the $22.5bn money laundering case brought by the Russian Federal Customs Service against the Bank of New York Mellon has indicated that he will brook no further delay, since the action has been pending for more than one year and that the matter will proceed to trial on 19 May. Lawyers had requested a delay of two to three weeks to review case law submitted by their opponents, and documents filed, but the court ruled that the matter will not be continued and will go to trial on 19 May.
