Former TV personality receives minimal sentence of six months house arrest for Money Laundering
30 June 2009
A former news reporter in Kansas City who laundered more that $650,000 was sentenced this week to only six months' home confinement for Money Laundering. Does this sound like a lenient sentence to you? Whilst she may have provided substantial assistance to law enforcement, there's not too much in a sentence of house arrest to deter others who may be tempted to make a quick dollar by moving illicit cash.
If we don't see appropriate sentences, someone who reads the story may decide to commit money laundering, too. Please, let the punishment fit the crime.
