PASSPORT-CHECK

English

In its continued pioneering spirit and commitment to developing efficient tools to streamline compliance and due diligence obligations, World-Check has launched Passport-Check - a passport verification solution that enables clients to verify the identity of customers in seconds and most importantly, it allows such checks to be carried out in-house for maximum data privacy and security.

Institutions rely fundamentally on a passport to verify an individual’s identity and yet historically they have had no way of verifying whether a passport is a forgery or not. This fundamental flaw in the current Customer Identification process can now be addressed with Passport-Check

Originally created to assist banks in assessing the risk that new or existing customers could pose by providing them with a global database of heightened-risk individuals and businesses, World-Check is today an essential tool not only in financial compliance but also in background and pre-employment screening, fraud prevention, government intelligence and enforcement, and other identity authentication and risk-prevention practices. Currently more than 2,500 institutions including 47 of the world’s 50 largest financial institutions and hundreds of government agencies rely on World-Check’s global database of heightened-risk individuals and businesses.

What is Passport-Check?

Passport-Check is a cutting edge application that verifies the authenticity of  machine-readable passports and identity documents. By simply entering the passport data, Passport-Check’s control digit verification technology works out the
correct composition of the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) including a number of check-digits. If the upper and the lower lines delivered by Passport-Check do not correspond with the MRZ on the presented passport, the document may be a forgery.

The MRZ is an integral part of all modern passports and id-documents.  Developed by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) it is the accepted international standard and the same checking procedure is therefore applied to all international Machine Readable ID Documents.

Why Verification?

In a time when ID-theft, fraud, money laundering and terrorist financing are a constant threat, making sure you can verify the identity of your customers, employees, associates and vendors is now more critical than ever.

Passport-Check will not only dramatically improve the identity-verification process with its easy access and instant results, it will also reduce the costs incurred in going to third parties to confirm such identification. In addition, being able to carry such ID-checks in-house means that any privacy or security concerns are no longer an issue.

World-Check takes it a step further Would it not make sense to verify people’s identities and at the same time cross-check them against the market-leading database of heightened risk individuals and entities? World-Check is the answer. Passport-Check is offered free of charge to all our Online subscribers - it has been embedded into World-Check’s system so that when checking the authenticity of an ID-document, users are simultaneously running a search against World-Check’s proprietary database. In a matter of seconds the results will show whether the ID-document is authentic and whether the passport holder is profiled in World-Check.

The integration of Name-Checking and ID-Document Checking into one process provides both our commercial and government clients with a unique solution to meet the stringent international know-your-customer due diligence obligations.

Proof of due diligence

Passport-Check automatically produces a print-out confirmation of the MRZ as it should appear in the passport you are attempting to verify. This print-out also confirms the details you have entered as well as whether the person concerned appears in World-Check thus providing proof of due diligence with an auditable trail.

Security Policy

World-Check’s foremost priority is privacy and security. 128 bit encryption stops third parties from tapping into the communication between servers. Our confidentiality guarantees your anonymity; there is no monitoring, no audit trail, no records kept of any search undertaken.  World-Check’s anonymity policy is regularly audited by KPMG. No other service offers this degree of security.
